OFFERING INFRARED HEAT!!!
Offering INFRARED heat!
Maximum health benefits
*Deeper penetration of heat into skin to help in increased circulation
*Delivering increased oxygen to all systems in the body; increasing healing time and ability for injuries and ailments (infrared heat has recently been proven to aid in arthritis, rheumatism, and muscle spasms)
*Infrared heat increases white blood cell count- there for aiding in increased immunity
*Improve skin health/quality by expelling dirt and chemicals, dead skin cells from surface through increased perspiration (proven to aid the healing of psoriasis, eczema, and acne).
*Relieves stress by loosening muscles prior to yoga exercise for increased flexibility and safer movement
*Toxins such as alcohol, nicotine, cholesterol, carcinogens, accumulate in the body during daily life- the body eliminates these toxins through sweat, though the process is slow. Infrared heat stimulates glands to sweat at an increased rate- there for infrared heat simply speeds up the body's natural process!!! *Perspiring is part of the thermoregulatory system of the body- increasing heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate. The process requires a large amount of energy- one can expect to burn calories and fat at a higher rate while practicing yoga in a heated infrared room.

What Is Hot Yoga?
Hot yoga is essentially yoga practiced in a heated environment. When one hears, Hot Yoga, Bikram Yoga often comes to mind, rightly so! Bikram Yoga is a widely popularized version of hot yoga founded by Bikram Choudhury. The sequence used in Bikram yoga is a consistent 26 postures (2 of which are breathing exercises) that are repeated twice over the period of 90 minutes. The room is always heated to 105F with 40% humidity.
While the concept is similar- the hot yoga taught at Hot Yoga By The Sea is not Bikram Yoga. Our hot yoga classes will vary from teacher to teacher. Our teachers are registered yoga instructors who bring their experience and passions in many areas of yoga and combine it with the heated environment. We offer a variety of classes preformed in a heated room- each class heated to a specific heat predetermined to accompany the type of yoga style being taught.
Our interest in incorporating the heat is in finding a deeper release during our yoga practice. The benefits of a heated environment on the body and mind are numerous and allow each individual to explore their yoga practice at a new dimension.

Why Heat?
For the body, the heat protects muscles, softens collagen around joints, strengthens the heart and cardiovascular system, speeds the breakdown of glucose and fatty acids, releases endorphins, rejuvenates the skin, and improves the function of the nervous system.
For the mind, practicing in a heated environment presents a challenge and sense of accomplishment. For many, the challenge of being in a heated room provides a place for each individual to learn to control thoughts and work on being content amidst the ever changing conditions in life.
We chose Infrared Heat at Hot Yoga By The Sea due to the many therapeutic benefits that it offers. Infrared heat warms objects before the air- so when you initially walk into the room you may feel the heat coming from the hardwood floors- when you stand beneath the infrared heat, the heat will then begin to heat your body as well.
Unlike conventional heat sources, infrared heat travels 2-3 inches into the body. This thermal effect in the deep layers of tissues causes blood vessels and capillaries to dilate, promoting a better blood circulation. Other benefits to enjoy:

What if I have never taken a Hot Yoga Class?
Most classes offered are beginner friendly though some classes are heated to a higher temperature and move at a faster pace than others. It is highly recommended that you acclimate to the heat by taking your practice slow and attending beginners hot yoga classes before advancing. Don't be fooled, practicing yoga in a heated room is a challenge and it will not be easy your first time around. If you are a beginner to a hot yoga class we insist you start with any of the following:
Hot Yoga Basics/ Gentle Hot Yoga/ Hot Hatha all classes are geared towards beginners and experienced students.
Hot Stretch incorporating yoga poses, this hour long class is designed for relaxation and release. The guided stretch will allow you to take your time as you move in and out of poses that release the tension from your body and relax muscles. Poses will not be physically demanding- rather (seasonal)
Hot Vinyasa/ Hot Ashtanga These classes are open to all levels. There is a flow quality to these classes and you will experience more movement. The room is heated to a lower degree because of the internal heat this practice builds on its own.
